About Mama Susan and her Dixie Cooking Cookbook

About Mama Susan:

Mama Susan says Hey Y'all!

Mama Susan is the only person on Earth to have received the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Medal (Macon, GA 1959) and the National Association of Eternal Adolescence's Donna Reed Award. (Atlanta, GA 1973)  One of the first to introduce healthy ingredients into Atlanta's trendy restaurant scene of the 1970's, she eventually opened her own place Eats 'N' Sweets. She is also a founding member of the Atlanta Ladies Aid Society and the White Pajama Club.

Mama Susan passed away on December 19th 1999, from complications of surgery. She is still much loved, and remains in our hearts forever.  Formerly running  Brevard, NC's bed and breakfast Toad Hall, she lived with her husband Jon Hildreth and an assortment of well fed felines.  Guests of the B&B travel from far and wide to eat at Mama Susan's; now you can eat her good home cooking anytime you have a hankering to.
